Abstract
The porpuse of this study was to investigate the effects on left ventricular dimension and function in the adult male as a result of the long-term exercise. This study measured left ventrcular dimension and function with use of Echocardiography
on
M-mode techniques in each 15 adult males (training group: 22.4 years, control group: 22.8 years).
Training consisted mainly of 40 minutes running(50% HRmax), 30 minutes recreational badminton, 4 days a week, and during the 24 week.
Results indicated that there were no significant improvement in left ventricular (end-systolic and diastolic) dimension, inter ventricular septum thickness, left ventricular wall thickness on the long-term exercise.
Stroke volume(P<.01), left ventricular ejection fraction (P<.05) left ventricular mass (P<.01), and left ventricular shortening traction(P<.05) were significantly different between the pre and post on the long-term exercise.
Its was concluded that in the present study, long-term execise had litter or no effects on left ventricular dimension but was accompanied by a significant increase in left ventricular functions.
